Daily Skincare Routine For Morning and Evening

We always ask a beauty expert whenever we buy a new skincare product. Don’t we? We have so many questions regarding the product. Like that there is an important question that arises in our head that is what is the correct order of skincare routine? What should be an ideal daily skincare routine? Yes! That’s the most frequently asked question. Sometimes it can be massively confusing. Like what comes first, serum, toner, or moisturizer? Ahh, forgot about the facial oil! Is there a need for facial oil? Then there are other things also. When we’ll use retinol and under-eye cream? So, confusing Huh!

Well! Honestly, there is no such thing as “correct order of skincare routine” but surely there are correct ways to apply your products. Here in this article, we are going to focus on the correct way or the sequence to use the products that make a perfect skincare routine according to the needs of your skin. Since every skin is different- some have dry skin while some have oily skin, so the skincare routine is also flexible for a different type of skin. However, some basic needs of your skin are common for all skin types like using SPF in the morning, exfoliating and many more.

So here we are sharing a quick and easy yet effective morning and nighttime skincare routine.

Assessing your skin

This skincare process starts with assessing your skin type. If you already know about that then start to follow the skincare routine steps. But if not, then don’t worry! We got your back. Here is a simple method to determine your skin type. Gently pat a blotting paper on different areas of your face. If you can see the oil on paper then you have oily skin and if it comes out dry then you have dry skin. If the oil comes around the nose or your T-zone then you have normal or combination skin.Β

Daily skincare routine

Now when you have assessed your skin type, let’s move to the main part that is your daily skincare routine.

Wash your face

Your skin must be clean that will lead to healthy glowing skin. Look for a facial cleanser as a part of your morning and nighttime daily skincare routine all the way first.Β  This will remove all the excess dirt and oil or you can go with micellar water followed by a face wash to remove oil and dirt from your face. There are types of facial cleanser according to your skin type- oil-based and water-based cleanser. If you have dry skin you may go for an oil-based cleanser. If you have oily skin, opt for a water-based cleanser. You can also opt for the double cleanse option. Firstly, you need to apply an oil-based cleanser. Rinse thoroughly, then apply a water-based cleanser. This method will work magic in removing any kind of makeup and excess oil that can cause acne. But the ones with dry skin, if you are double cleansing make sure you are using products infused with shea butter and essential oils.Β

Wash your face

Remember if you have oily skin use gel or foaming cleanser. If you have dry skin try to use a creamy cleanser. If you are in your late 30s then it’s good to use a creamy texture facial cleanser as aging can result in dry skin. A creamy cleanser will help you in replenishing natural oils on your face.

Also, exfoliate your skin 2-3 times a week to remove dead skin cells right after cleansing.

Apply toner

Straight after cleansing use toner for hydration as a morning and evening skincare routine. You can spray directly and pat the toner or can apply it with the help of cotton. Toners are easily absorbed by your skin. Choose gentle, hydrating and non-alcoholic toner and tap it over your cleansed skin. Simple rosewater can work as a toner. Always use toner before applying makeup. It will make your product absorb better.Β

Apply serum

Serums are the formula that targets specific skin concerns. A serum will help to remove the agents that can harm your skin or can cause long-term damage. You just need a few pumps of serum and make absorb fully by your skin. The most commonly used serum is vitamin C serum, which will protect the skin from free radicals along with brightening and reducing dark spots. If your skin is dry, opt out for a serum containing hyaluronic acid for extra hydration.Β

If your skin is sensitive use serum in the morning.Β

Under-eye creams

Eye creams are meant to brighten and firm up the under-eye area. Just dab a small amount around the eye using a finger. You may skip if your serum and moisturizer are good enough around the eye area.Β

Moisturizer

Moisturizer is the key to hydration. Everyone needs moisturizer. Yes, you heard that right even the oily skin ones. It will help your skin to trap the products underneath your skin. Your moisturizer should be light and hydrating. Apply moisturizer on the damp skin for better absorption. If you have dry skin opt for a cream-based moisturizer that will deeply hydrate your skin. If you have oily or normal skin choose a light, hydrating and gel-based moisturizer. Use a moisturizer on your neck area too.Β

Sunscreen in the morning

Never skip sunscreen, experts say never, not even on a cloudy day. This will protect your skin from harmful UV rays. You can knock out the above moisturizing step by using 2 in one lotion with SPF as morning moisturizer and SPF both. Always use a minimum of SPF 30 sunscreen and in summer you can go for 40 to 50 SPF sunscreen also. Use an ample amount of sunscreen on your neck area along with the face 20 minutes before stepping out of your house. Use cream-based sunscreens that don’t make your skin white if you have dry skin. For oily skin use non-whitening gel-based sunscreen. Now you can start applying your makeup.

Retinols

A vitamin A derivative makes your skin fresh, smoother and less wrinkled. If you are new start slowly, first once in a week, then twice a week, then thrice and so on. Use a retinol at night before sleeping after moisturizing your face. It takes time up to six months to repair skin, but you need to be consistent with its use. After your 30s you should start using retinol, they work magic. Either use retinol or night creams. No need to use night creams after retinol except facial oils.

Night cream or sleeping mask

This is the last optional step that can be applied before sleeping or can be skipped too. If you are using retinol, then you can skip this step. This will help in cell repair and seal your hydration. Just use a pea-sized amount of night cream and take a good beauty sleep. Use can also use aloe gel as a sleeping mask and you will wake up with beautiful glowing skin.
